We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr William Millerson, in Curaçao on Saturday, June 20th.
Mr Millerson is a member of the WKF Executive Committee, PKF Honorary President and former World Championships and continental championships medalist.
William Millerson was a beloved and most respected personality for the whole Karate family and one of the most relevant figures in the recent history of the sport.
All the team member extended their deepest condolence to Mr Millerson’s family and loved ones.
William Millerson was a prominent figure in the world of karate, particularly as a member of the World Karate Federation. He was a Dutch politician and was also the President of the Pan American Karate Federation.
Millerson has dedicated a significant portion of his life to the sport of karate. He began his karate journey at the age of 14 and earned his first black belt at the age of 17. As an athlete, Millerson competed at the international level and achieved significant success, including becoming a European Karate Champion.
In addition to his athletic career, Millerson has served in various administrative roles within the sport. He has worked as a referee and a coach and has held numerous positions within national and international karate organizations. Notably, he served as the chairman of the Netherlands Antilles Olympic Committee.
Moving beyond the world of sports, Millerson has also had a career in politics. He served as a member of the Estates of Curaçao, representing the political party Partido pa Adelanto I Inovashon Soshal (PAIS).
