Unveiling Lineup of Karate athlete for the 2023 World Combat Games

The Karate events at the 2023 World Combat Games are slated for October 20-21. Hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the World Combat Games will run from October 20 to 30 and will feature a diverse array of 16 combat sports.

Following the conclusion of the qualification rounds, the roster of 96 athletes set to participate in the 2023 World Combat Games has been unveiled. The Karate segment of the games will feature athletes from an impressive 42 nations, underscoring the global appeal of the sport.

Open only to athletes in the Under-21 categories, the event will showcase some of the world’s most promising karate talents vying for the gold medal. Among the athletes to watch are Abdel Ali Jina of Morocco, the current African champion and a bronze medallist in the Senior World Championships for Male Kumite -60kg; Reem Khamis of Germany, the reigning Senior continental champion and U21 World Championships second-place finisher; Sakichi Abe of Japan, a four-time Karate 1-Premier League medallist in Male Kata; Ema Sgardelli of Croatia, a two-time U21 continental championships runner-up and U21 World Championships bronze medallist in Female Kumite -50kg; and Louiza Abouriche of Algeria, the current U21 World champion and two-time Senior continental championships runner-up in Female Kumite -55kg, among others.
