The third leg of the 2025 Karate 1 Premier League took place in Cairo from April 18 to 20, bringing together the world’s top karatekas in a thrilling competition. Athletes showcased exceptional skill and determination across various kata and kumite categories.

Notable Results

Women’s Kata

  • Gold: Mo Sheung Grace Lau (Hong Kong) triumphed in the final against Japan’s Maho Ono.
  • Bronze: Paola García Lozano (Spain) secured bronze after defeating Japan’s Natsuki Shimizu. She shared the third-place podium with Portugal’s Rita Marques.  

Women’s Kumite -50 kg

  • Gold: Moldir Zhangbyrbay (Kazakhstan) clinched the top spot.
  • Silver: Ema Sgardelli (Croatia) earned silver.
  • Bronze: Catarina Rodrigues (Portugal) and Reem Ahmed Salama (Egypt) both took bronze.

Women’s Kumite -55 kg

  • Gold: Ivet Goranova (Bulgaria) emerged victorious.
  • Silver: Akari Harada (Japan) secured silver.
  • Bronze: Tuba Yakan (Turkey) and Tsumugi Sakiyama (Japan) completed the podium.

Women’s Kumite -61 kg

  • Gold: Oleksandra Sholohova (Ukraine) took gold.
  • Silver: Assel Kanay (Kazakhstan) earned silver.
  • Bronze: Rahma Tolba and Noursin Aly (Egypt) both secured bronze medals. 

Women’s Kumite -68 kg

  • Gold: Elena Quirici (Switzerland) claimed the top position.
  • Silver: Nisrine Brouk (Morocco) finished second.
  • Bronze: Hannah Riedel and Madeleine Schroeter (Germany) shared third place.

Women’s Kumite +68 kg

  • Gold: Haidi Mahgoub (Egypt) secured gold.
  • Silver: Menna Shaaban Okila (Egypt) took silver.
  • Bronze: Johanna Kneer (Germany) and Fortesa Orana (Kosovo) both earned bronze medals.

🇪🇬 Egypt’s Outstanding Performance

Egyptian athletes shone on home soil, particularly in the women’s kumite categories. Haidi Mahgoub and Menna Shaaban Okila achieved a gold-silver finish in the +68 kg division. Additionally, Reem Ahmed Salama, Rahma Tolba, and Noursin Aly each secured bronze medals, highlighting Egypt’s strength in international karate.

🔜 Upcoming Event

Following the Cairo competition, the next stop in the 2025 Karate 1 Premier League is scheduled for Rabat, Morocco, from May 29 to 1st June. Top karatekas will continue to compete for points and prepare for the World Championships. Grand Winners will be crown during Gala dinner after the competition.
