Guadalajara to Host XXXI Mediterranean Senior Karate Championships in September 2025

The XXXI Mediterranean Senior Karate Championships, initially slated for July/August 2025 in Alexandria, Egypt, have been rescheduled and relocated. The event will now take place in Guadalajara, Spain, from September 12 to 14, 2025. This change underscores Guadalajara’s esteemed reputation as a premier venue for international karate competitions.

A Proven Host City

Guadalajara has a rich history of hosting significant karate events. In 2013, the city welcomed the 8th World Cadet & Junior Karate Championships and the 3rd Under 21 Cup, marking its first major foray into international karate tournaments. The city’s commitment to the sport was further solidified when it hosted the 54th European Karate Championships in 2019 and again in 2023, demonstrating its consistent capability to organize events of this magnitude.  

Most recently, in April 2025, Guadalajara hosted the Karate 1 – Youth League, attracting over 3,000 young athletes from 80 countries. This event not only showcased emerging talent but also reinforced the city’s status as a hub for karate excellence.
