Qualification for Pan American Games Finalized Following Exciting PKF Championships

The United States and Chile, the hosting country, will have the highest athlete representation in the Karate event of the 2023 Pan American Games, each fielding 13 athletes.

Brazil and Colombia are also bringing considerable delegations, with 11 and 10 athletes respectively. A total of 21 countries will participate, demonstrating the broad appeal of Karate across the Americas.

Following the completion of the final qualification stage, an array of premier karatekas have confirmed their attendance at the Games’ Karate competition.

Six Olympians are set to compete in Santiago later this year, including Ariel Torres, an Olympic bronze medallist from the United States, along with Sakura Kokumai, Claudymar Garces of Venezuela, Andres Madera of Venezuela, Thomas Scott, and Brian Irr, all from the United States.

Brazil’s World Champion Douglas Brose leads the assembly of current World Championships medallists at the event. American Trinity Allen, Fabian Huaiquiman of Chile – both silver medallists, and bronze medallist Alexandra Grande of Peru, are also set to participate.

The Karate events at the 2023 Pan American Games will take place from November 3rd to 5th. In the last edition of the Pan American Games in 2019, the United States led the Karate medal table, followed by the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
